Submitted to the HP Horror Fest 2015

Rating: R
Pairing(s)/Character(s): Ron/Hermione; Hermione Granger, Mr. and Mrs. Granger, Ron Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley
Word count: 19,360
Summary: For years, things had already been confusing enough between Hermione and her parents, what with her spending most of her time at Hogwarts and the wizarding world. But after the war, once she and Ron retrieve their memories and bring them back from Australia, their relationship is decidedly damaged. And why are they insisting that there’s something wrong with her? Could they be right? After all, parents know best.
A/N: This was my first submission to the hp_darkarts fest. I really loved writing it and I like how it turned out. I’m also excited because it’s got the first more or less explicit smut scene I’ve posted so far. Please mind the warnings, as it’s a horror fest and there might be triggering content, but let me know what you thought of it if you read it!

Submitted to the HP Horror Fest 2015

Rating: R
Character: Harry Potter, mentions of Ron, Hermione, Ginny, etc.
Word count: 1,840
Summary: Perhaps it would have been best if he hadn’t returned from King’s Cross at all. That way, at least it would have been his choice.
A/N: Hi everyone! I recently took part in the fest hosted by hp_darkarts, and since reveals are up, I thought I'd share my fics here if anyone's interested (and still around). This was my second submission to the fest but the first one to be posted. It’s very different from anything I’ve written, but I enjoyed doing it. Please mind the warnings, as it’s a horror fest and there might be triggering content!

Title: Controversial
Rating: M
Word count: 1,450
Summary: Ron and Hermione discuss the names that their best friends chose for their second son. Rated M for very light innuendo at the end.
Notes: (OP: July 2014) Just like the title, this story might be a little conversial to some, as it addresses a prickly subject: the Albus Severus dilemma. This is based in the many opinions I've come across on Tumblr, but particularly in a mock dialogue between Harry, Ron and Hermione, where Harry told them about the names he'd picked. So I thought, how would that actually have gone? What would Ron and Hermione have thought about it?
Anyway, the story is Ron and Hermione talking about the names, so it's mainly dialogue, but it's got some shippy fluffiness that I hope you'll enjoy ^^ Thanks a lot to jenahid for going over this and providing some pregnancy info.
***

Ron lay down on the stacked pillows at the headboard of his and Hermione's bed, thinking as he stared at his six-month pregnant wife already tucked in for the night. Her head was poring over a thick book, as per usual, the tip of her quill hovering over a scrap of parchment, ready to take notes. He already knew that, when the time came for her to settle down towards the end of her pregnancy, he would act as her oversized owl, bringing back and forth books and pending work from the Ministry. As long as she was happy and willing to take care of herself, he wouldn't object.

His sister was pregnant, too, due in two months, and Ron couldn't shake out the thought that had been on his head for the past hours.

Title: Trinkets - Part Three: Unpacking
Rating: PG15
Words: 1,545
Challenge: Signed photo of Lockhart, Number 12 Grimmauld Place
Summary: During the various stages of moving out, Ron and Hermione find some old trinkets.
Warnings (if applicable): As I finished this so late last night, I'm afraid it's unbetaed.
Notes: For the Ron/Hermione Reunion at rhr_smutfest. Third and final part of a series of three linked one-shots. I'm so glad I didn't have to think of a title and summary for this one... The last scene was inspired by this gorgeous fanart by catchsmoke. If I could hug things on the internet, I'd hug the crap out of that.
On a final note, I'd like to write a smutty follow-up but I can't write smut. That makes me sad.

‘Now pass me those small boxes to your left,’ Hermione instructed without turning, carefully placing the last volume on her bookcase: Year with the Yeti.

Ron did as he was told; the three brightly-patterned boxes felt heavy, but not nearly as much as the ones Hermione had previously unpacked, containing the majority of her book collection.

‘What’s in these fancy things, anyway?’ he said, weighing them in his hands. He lifted the lid of the top box with a finger, peering inside.

‘Just letters, Ron; pass them over.’ Hermione held out both hands, but Ron was tucking the lid under one arm and frowning as his hand reached for something inside the box.

Title: An unusual taste
Rating: G
Words: 1,326
Challenge: Ginny Weasley, Bertie Bott's grass-flavoured bean, library
Summary: Some things are too personal to be shared, but a bean ain't one.
Warnings (if applicable): None
Notes: For the Ron/Hermione Reunion at rhr_smutfest. While I finish writing the third part of Trinkets, here's something I did with the second set of prompts I actually claimed. Ginny is always fun to write. Many thanks to exartemarte for the beta work and the nice words on my written English.
I apologise for the summary.

Ron walked through the book-lined aisles, unconsciously tapping his wand against his leg to the rhythm of the ancient clock. He spotted them in a deserted area near the Restricted Section: Hermione and Ginny were both bent over lengths of parchment and open books, one head covered in a mass of brown hair, the other half-hidden by a shiny red curtain.

Title: Trinkets - Part Two: Interlude
Rating: PG15
Words: 1,377
Challenge: Kreacher, SPEW badge, Number 12 Grimmauld Place
Summary: During the various stages of moving out, Ron and Hermione find some old trinkets.
Warnings (if applicable): I-inuendo? Can I even do that?
Notes: For the Ron/Hermione Reunion at rhr_smutfest. Second part of a series of three linked one-shots. Thanks a lot to tmblue again for the beta work.

Ron Apparated into the already stacked drawing room holding a cardboard box and, as if timed, Hermione popped in behind him a second later.

'Last box', he said.

'Mine too.'

'Your parents?'

'Upset. But that's not much of a change for them, lately... Yours?'

'Scandalised.'

Title: Trinkets - Part One: Packing
Rating: PG13
Words: 1,433
Challenge: Lavender Brown, Ron's bedroom
Summary: During the various stages of moving out, Ron and Hermione find some old trinkets.
Warnings (if applicable): If fluff is something to be warned of, then that. Also, ogling.
Notes: For the Ron/Hermione Reunion at rhr_smutfest. I don't think I can call this a multi-chapter, but rather a series of three linked one-shots. This is the first one that I began to write, and it was actually before the reunion was even announced--but then I saw the prompts and had an idea. Thanks a lot to tmblue for being a great beta!!

‘What do we have here?’ Hermione asked, more to herself, as she bent over to pick something up off the floor.

Ron stared after her, smiling. He remembered the first time he caught himself doing that after they had gotten together a year ago, relishing the fact that he was now able to ogle at her like that without feeling pervy; he was looking at his girlfriend’s backside, not at his best friend that he thought he had no chance with. It was more legitimate.

Title: Debugging
Rating: M
Word count: 2,255
Summary: Rita Skeeter strikes back, writing for the gossip column of the Daily Prophet about the special guests of the 2014 Quidditch World Cup.
Notes: (OP: July 2014) In the spirit of posting all my fics from this year here, here's what I wrote after the Rita Skeeter article about the Quidditch World Cup released on Pottermore. Most of the fics I read have Ron joking and no longer having a problem with what others think of him, and while I do agree that over the years his confidence must have built up, I think that maybe a light wisp of insecurity still remains—but for very different reasons than those of a teenage boy, as I hope I was able to convey. Thanks to jenahid for correcting this! :)

Hermione woke up abruptly and suppressed a groan. It had taken her a long time to fall asleep, and now she felt as if it'd happened mere seconds ago. It was not for lack of exhaustion: she'd had an unusually long day, waking up at five to make sure everything was packed and nothing necessary was being left behind; getting the children dressed and fed—although Ron, bless his heart, was the expert in breakfast chores—and meeting Harry and his trio to catch the Portkey to Argentina at 8 am. Once there, it had been a great hustle and bustle all around, what with the setting up of the tents, having most of the kids from their extended family being more trouble than help, and all the curious eyes trying to get a peek or even pass the tight security wards that protected their section of the campsite. And then in the afternoon, they had been busy making sure that the younger children weren't getting past the wards without an adult. She could definitely use a good night's rest.

Title: Back
Rating: G
Word count: 323
Notes: You know, when I have to pick a favourite HP book, I usually go for DH because it’s the only book that managed to split my heart and scatter it throughout several chapters, “The Silver Doe” definitely kept a piece.
This is to kick off my participation in the Ron/Hermione Reunion at rhr_smutfest; it's not beta-read, so all mistakes are due to my native language.

Ron was afraid his heart might give up after the day’s emotions. First, it’d been fear of Harry drowning, mixed with the rush of adrenaline as he ran to help him. Then, the shock of icy water numbing his body, after he plunged into the lake. But the most intense emotion he had experienced so far was happiness and relief at the sight of Hermione, whole, real, in front of him. His heart felt as though it had expanded to fill his entire chest cavity.

She hadn’t been happy. She’d hit, yelled, and insulted him. It didn’t hurt him as much, though. The locket was gone; the voice poisoning his ears every waking hour vanquished by his own hand. He knew it had been wrong of him to leave, no matter what. He wasn’t going to give her any excuses to understand, to forgive him: if he had to atone, then he would.

Harry said she’d cried for him, missed him, wanted him back. Even if she hadn’t, or if his flight had been a point of no return in their relationship, he didn’t mind. She had led him to them. There was one thing Ron was sure of: he was back for good, and he would do his best to keep them safe. That’s all that mattered.

Hermione got into her bunk at last, apparently deciding not to hex him tonight. Ron breathed out in relief. He hadn’t been expecting a welcome home kiss, but he didn’t think he could take much more in one night, either.

Harry seemed to agree she’d been mild, for Hermione’s standards, and Ron couldn’t help but remember the same eyes glaring at him full of resentment, her wand rising, and a dozen small yellow birds tearing into his arms.

He’d reminisced out loud. She heard him.

'I still haven't ruled it out.'

Ron smiled. If this was the best he could hope for, he’d take it.

Title: Acknowledging
Rating: PG13
Word count: 1,381
Summary: During a certain Potions class in fourth year, Ron comes to a second realization about Hermione Granger.
Notes: (OP: August 2014) Someone on Tumblr asked whether there was a fic about Ron's inner monologue once he finds out Hermione is the person Krum would miss most, and I came up with this. The actual prompt is part of a flashback, as the story focuses on a different moment and a different sort of realization. I had fun writing this... hopefully I got Ron's voice moderately right (at least my innate tendency to swear comes in handy for these situations). Thanks again to jenahid for helping me out, and thanks a lot to you for reading!
***

Ron's ears felt like a couple of lit braziers set on either side of his head as he continued to pound his scarab beetles, the desk all to himself. It was a good thing Snape had sent Hermione to sit somewhere else, even if it meant she'd have to put up with that cow Pansy Parkinson; otherwise he'd...

Well, he didn't know what he would have done, or said to her. Maybe he didn't want to talk to Hermione at all.
